About Your Coaches

All Game On coaches are qualified members of the FA Coaches Association and regularly undergo First Aid training. All of our coaches have been CRB checked.



GRAHAM HALL (Coaching Director)

Graham HallGraham has been coaching for over 10 years, with 8 of them spent working full time in local schools coaching children between the ages of 5 and 18.
He completed his FA coaching badge as part of his Sports Science degree from Liverpool John Moores University. Graham spent the summer of 1999 coaching in New York where he learnt the technique of 'Storybook coaching'. Graham has continued his coaching development and now holds his Level 3 coaching qualification.

Graham currently holds his coaching qualifications in Cricket, Tennis, Hockey, Athletics and has his Level 2 coaching qualification in Rounders. Graham has also been on the FA’s Key Stage 2 Learning course.

Graham has played professional for Wycombe Wanderers FC where he spent 3 years working under Martin O’Neill (Aston Villa), Alan Smith (ex-Crystal Palace) and John Gregory (ex-QPR). He currently plays for Tring Athletic FC.

After coaching all the pupils at Little Furze School, Keith Gower, their PE co-ordinator wrote to Graham telling him that, "They (the school’s staff) were most impressed by your ability to captivate the children’s interest and to keep them busy throughout the sessions. It was obvious to them that you had a real talent for coaching."

PAUL STEVENS (Head Coach)

Paul StevensPaul has been coaching professionally for nearly seven years. His is player/manager of Tring Royals FC who play in the Berkhamsted Sunday League - Div 1. He has played football for Chatswood FC in Sydney when he was traveling for 1 year in Australia.

Paul currently holds his Level 2 coaching badge in football, athletics and rounders along with holding qualifications in basketball, tag rugby and tennis. Paul has also been on a FA Teaching course, FA coaching for the Disabled and recently completed a course on teaching visually impared students.

In 2009 Paul teamed up with a charity called Tackle Africa who use football coaching to raise HIV/AIDS awerness many countries in Africa. He spent 2 weeks in Kenya running a project which trained teachers and youth leaders how to be a football coach and use the techniques and methods of Tackle Africa. (see link for photos and more information). Paul plans to return in 2010 and continue his voluntary work in Africa.

In 2007 Paul succesfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, Kenya raising over £11,000 for Action Aid helping countries around the world recover from natural disasters, poverty and war.

This year Paul and his Wife ran the London Marathon for British Red Cross raising just over £4000. We would like to thank everyone who made a donation and sent good luck messages. 

Paul likes to keep fit by playing football, running, snowboarding, swimming, tennis and kick boxing. Like Graham he is also a beloved Everton Supporter!


JOE COWEN (Head Coach)

Joe CowenJoe has been working for Game On since 2006 and has seen him progress to become a Head Coach. Joe is responsible for the London Colney & Boreahmwood areas. Joe currently holds his Level 2 Football & Rounders qualifications. Joe holds his coaching qualifications in Athletics, Tag-Rugby and Netball. 

Joe used to be a member of Watford's Academy and he currently plays for Northwood Football Club.



CHRIS MARSH (Head Coach)

Chris has become a very popular member of staff with the children and this year Chris has become a Head Coach at Game On. 

Chris currently holds 3 different coaching qualifications and is working towards obtaining many more. Chris currently plays for Dunstable Town Football club and he is a big Manchester United fan.

SAM JAMES

 

Sam joined Game On in September 2009. 

His favourite sport to coach is football.

Qualifications:
Sam has just passed his FA Level 2 Football Award. Well done!

Coaching Experience:
Sam has coached since the age of 13, mainly coaching children aged 6-14 years. His main coaching background is football but he enjoys most sports.

Sporting Hobbies:
Sam loves watching and playing football, and in is playing career he has won many league titles with different clubs and school. He currently plays for Sandy FC and is a huge Tottenham Hotspur fan!

Sporting Hero:
Paul Gascoigne, Jermain Defoe and Luka Modric.

Favourite Sporting Memory:
Paul Gascoigne's free kick against Arsenal in the FA Cup Semi-Final - 35 yard strike leaving David Seaman grasping at thin air!
David Bentley's famous 45 yard volley.
Woodgate's header against Chelsea in the Carling Cup Final.
And Allan Neilson's header against Leicester in the Worthington Cup in 1999.

ANDY WHEELER-KING

                                                                                                    

Andy started with Game On part-time in 2007 and has now become full time in 2009.

His favourite sports to coach are Football and Athletics.

Level 1 Rounders

Coaching Experience:
Andy has built up many years of experience with Game On. Delivering to many schools in Hemel and Berkhamsted. As well as being a popular member of staff with holiday courses.

Sporting Hobbies:
Andy plays Saturday football for Amersham Town and Sunday league football for Berkhamsted Tornadoes. Andy is also a huge Leeds United fan!

Sporting Hero:
Alan Smith & David Batty for Leeds United, elsewhere he likes Steven Gerrard, Cesc Fabregas, Zinedine Zidane and Bret "Hit-man" Hart !!

Favourite Sporting Memory:
Leeds United 1-0 AC Milan in 2000 in the Champions League Group stages, with Lee Bowyer scoring an 89th minute winner!
England's Ashes win in 2005 over Australia.

Sam joined Game On in September 2009.

Going to Cardiff and watching Watford FC beat leeds 3-0 in the play-off final.

Coaching Experience:
Matt has coached tennis from an early age and football for the past 5 years. Working with Berkhamsted Raiders youth and seniors. Currently helping coach the U12 Boys, U13 Boys & U14 Girls.

Sporting Hobbies:

Playing watching and coaching football. Supported of Watford FC so going to home & away games. Playing tennis and pretending to be good at golf!

Watfords play-off win in Cardiff 2006 and Gazza's tears at italia '90
